First grade students in Mrs. Brittany Alex’s class at West Forest Elementary recently spent a week learning about veterans and soldiers on active duty. They collected snacks and wrote cards and personal greetings for a US soldier currently stationed in Japan. Marine Corps Corporal Alex Liners is the fiance of Miss Grace Dalton, a student teacher in Mrs. Alex’s classroom. The students packed all the snacks and cards in a box and sent it off to the Corporal and his platoon in Okinawa, Japan last week. They are tracking the package to watch its journey halfway around the world and to see when it is received by the Corporal.
