West Forest Sixth Grade STEM Students Build Bobsled Tracks

West Forest- Mrs. Olson’s 6th Grade STEM class recently put their engineering skills to the test by designing and building their own bobsled tracks in celebration of the Olympic spirit. As part of the project, students explored key STEM concepts such as force, motion, gravity, and friction while working through the engineering design process. Working collaboratively, students developed and tested multiple track designs, making adjustments to improve speed, stability, and overall performance. Through trial and error, they analyzed what worked, what didn’t, and why—refining their creations to achieve the most successful bobsled runs. The hands-on project not only reinforced classroom learning but also encouraged creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork in an engaging and competitive environment.
