West Forest Elementary welcomed a special guest to Mrs. Cislon’s library classes. Mr. Justin Heasley, a 4-H Extension Educator, visited with students to take part in the week’s literacy-focused activities and provide a hands-on learning experience that connected reading with real-world skills. During his visit, Mr. Heasley read The Butter Battle Book by Dr. Seuss with the students. Following the reading, Mr. Heasley guided the students through a hands-on activity where they worked together to make butter in the classroom. Students learned about the simple process of turning cream into butter by shaking and mixing the ingredients. The students were excited to participate in the process and eagerly watched as their efforts transformed the ingredients into butter. Once the activity was complete, several students had the opportunity to taste the butter they helped create, making the experience both educational and memorable.
