West Forest Earns Trex Bench

The Tionesta Lions with the help of West Forest Schools have earned their second Trex Bench from the Trex Plastic Bag Recycling program.  The Lions Club started the recycling program in November 2020, and earned the first bench (now located at Market Village) in less than 5 months.  The West Forest School, Pre K-12 became involved in early 2021 boosting the collection monthly average from 70lbs to over 100lbs by contributing all their plastic bags from breakfast, lunch and snacks.  So for the 2nd round of plastic collection in 2021, the Lions Club voted to send this bench to the school.  The new Trex bench was placed on the playground for students, teachers and parents to use and enjoy during recess.  The Tionesta community and school students have proven that we can work together to help remove plastic from our environment, and in return improve our community with something that will both add comfort and beauty.

We will be eligible to start earning the third bench Trex Bench on November 1.  So, continue collecting clean/dry plastic bags/wraps and bring them to the Giant Eagle Grocery delivery on Saturday mornings at 11:00 behind Pizza Joes.  There are also collection boxes at the Market Village Gazebo and at West Forest’s south end porch.   For more information contact Lion Peggy Butler 814-463-7606.
