Veterans Honored at East Forest
East Forest School welcomed several veterans, current members of the military and their families to an assembly and reception on Monday, November 11. The school was highly decorated with red carpet, American flags, many posters and a Wall of Honor. The local fire department helped out by hanging a giant American flag from their engine outside the school. The guest speaker was Marine Corps Corporal Blake Saunders, husband of one of the elementary teachers. The program was arranged by Student Council members and featured participation from many parts of the student body: The choir performed the Star Spangled Banner with the help of Fifth and Sixth grade, Pre K, Kindergarten, and First Grade classes led the assembly in saying the Pledge of Allegiance and the Second, Third and Fourth Grade classes sang God Bless the USA. Afterward, there was a reception for the veterans, their family members and staff.
