Meet Your 2026 Forest Area Summer Playground Monitors!
We are thrilled to introduce the amazing leaders who will be keeping things fun, safe, and active at our summer playground program this year! Our monitors bring fantastic backgrounds in education, youth mentorship, and community service, and they can’t wait to get to know all of our playground attendees at our West Forest and East Forest locations.
First up is Logan Carll, a West Forest graduate from the Class of 2022. You might already recognize Logan around the community, as he achieved the rank of Eagle Scout, has served as a volunteer firefighter for Station 29 in West Hickory, and has worked as a substitute teacher right here in the Forest Area School District. Logan recently earned his degree in Secondary Education, Social Studies, and History from PennWest Clarion, where he gained valuable experience working alongside educators from various schools. Having worked with local students across all grade levels, he is incredibly excited to spend his summer helping create a positive, high-energy, and safe environment for everyone.
Joining him is Alexis Banner, a 2024 graduate of Titusville High School who brings a deep passion for mentorship and student care. During her time in high school, Alexis served as an IGNITE Mentor to help incoming students transition smoothly and succeed throughout the school year. She is currently a junior at PennWest Edinboro pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, where she also works as a Community Assistant, planning fun events and building a positive environment for residents. Because Alexis is aspiring toward a career in pediatrics, she is looking forward to gaining hands-on experience, building meaningful connections, and making sure everyone has a safe, memorable, and active summer.
The Forest Area School District is hosting the Free Summer Fun Playground Program for students ages 7 to 13, during July and August 2026, starting July 6th. The program runs Monday through Thursday from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, with a free lunch provided to children who attend the morning session. Held at two locations, West Forest operating on Mondays and Tuesdays, and East Forest operating on Wednesdays and Thursdays, the supervised drop-in program offers outdoor play, activities, and field trips. While parents must register their children and have a plan for their coming and going, attendees are expected to follow basic safety and behavioral rules, such as respecting leaders and following bus guidelines. Contact your school’s office for more information or click the link below. Both Logan and Alexis are ready to help create a fantastic, structured playground experience for the kids!
