Meet Lisa McMeekin, Forest Area’s new World Language teacher!
Lisa McMeekin grew up in Brockway, where she took her first foreign language class (French), which set her on the path to becoming a language teacher. After graduating from Brockway Area High School, she attended Penn State University, obtaining a Bachelor of Science in World Language Education in 2011, and then a Master’s in Teaching French from Southern Oregon University in 2018.
Lisa began teaching as a long-term substitute in Johnsonburg before moving to Punxsutawney Area School District, where she taught for 11 years. While at Punxsutawney, Lisa also coached girls’ soccer, advised Dramatics Club, Mock Trial Club, and, of course, Foreign Language Club. In her summers, Lisa works at the Brockway public library, leading their summer reading programs. Lisa also enjoys camping, playing card and board games with family and friends, and birdwatching with her two cats.
