An exciting summer and after school Technical Support Specialist program is available at no cost for Western PA high school students in the 2022-2023 school year. Courses begin July 25, 2022. The program is sponsored by the PA Rural Robotics Initiative and the Innovative Institute for Tomorrow (https://www.paruralroboticsinitiative.com/).
 
In partnership with NuPaths (www.nupaths.org), this career and college prep program includes 4 courses, job readiness skills training, a Project, 6 IT certifications and 8 college credits. Students will learn how to troubleshoot software, fix operating systems, rebuild computers and perform general maintenance on computer devices. Students can earn certifications from CompTIA and Microsoft.

14 high school students in the class of 2023 and 2024 at eligible schools in northwestern PA can receive a 100% scholarship to participate in the Technical Support Specialist pre-apprenticeship program starting this summer (10 scholarships are still available).
Students can earn up to 8 college credits and up to 6 industry certifications as they learn to troubleshoot software, fix operating system issues and rebuild computers.
Students will complete 40 hours of training over 2 weeks in July and then complete 60 hours of training in the fall and 60 hours of training in the spring to earn their PA pre-apprenticeship certificate, college credits and industry certifications. The blended learning program will include online and in-person class sessions. The in-person sessions (4 days in the summer, and 1 Saturday a month during the school year) will be held at the Innovation Institute at Franklin, 1340 Liberty St., Franklin, PA. The former Franklin Club building has been renovated into a space for STEM education and will open for use in June. The in-person session location is convenient to access for students from eligible schools in Clarion, Crawford, Forest, and Venango counties.
 
Scholarships are on a first-come, first-serve basis. The application deadline has been extended to July 15.
