Forest Area Student Historians trip to Boston
From April 10-13th, the Forest Area Student Historians traveled to Massachusetts and New York with their advisor Mr. Ernest Hartwig to visit several historical points of interest in American History. Their first stop was at the Plimoth Plantation and Historic Pautuxet learning about the Separatists (Pilgrims) and the Native American tribe, the Wampanoags. From there, they traveled to Salem, MA to visit the Salem Witch Dungeon Museum, the Real Pirates Museum, and the House of Seven Gables. On day 2, they visited the city of Boston, walking along the Freedom Trail, encountering several historical points on the way to the Boston Tea Party Ships and Museum, re-enacting the famous Boston Tea Party. After that, they dined in Fanueil Hall before heading to and visiting the USS Constitution ship and Museum. On their third and final day, they traveled to and toured the US Military Academy at West Point. They finished the trip by going to Hyde Park, home to FDR, the 32nd President of the United States. Shown here are most of the students, grades 9 – 12, in front of the USS Constitution.
