East Forest Fifth-Graders Conduct Experiments

The East Forest 5th-grade students recently stepped into the role of scientists by designing and carrying out their very own experiments. Each group picked a different question to investigate, planned their procedure, and collected data. Afterward, they applied their writing skills to create complete lab reports that explained their methods, findings, and conclusions. Finally, they presented their findings to their peers. Pictured here are Michael Walker and Avery Colvin working on their experiment, “which fabric absorbs the most water.” The pair brought in different types of fabric, weighed the fabric before and after being submerged in water, and compared the weights of the fabric.
