East Forest Elementary Happenings~

There are many exciting things happening at East Forest Elementary this winter!

The 4th grade students are reading a story in ELA class about The Beatles.  As part of the experience, the students have been listening to some of the music, and are working on a song analysis collage project, led by their teacher, Mrs. Saunders.  Fourth graders are using pictures to make a collage that describes the song lyrics.  They are matching the tone and theme of the song with the pictures that they choose.  They are also using the pictures to interpret the meaning of the lyrics.  Everyone is enjoying learning about the music and completing the projects!

The 5th and 6th grade students are working on straw rollercoasters in their STEAM class.  Students are working in groups to design and engineer the plans, and then construct the straw rollercoasters.  The goal of the project is to have a ping pong ball make it from the top, to the bottom of the coaster, without falling off the track.  Their teacher, Mr. Donato, has been excited to see the projects take shape!

Another exciting event at East Forest Elementary this winter is the start of the Elementary Basketball season!  The students have a new coach this year, Mrs. Emma Saunders, and both the coach, and players are very excited to get things going!  The players are working on fundamental skills early in the season, as they progress and get ready for their first game later in the season.  Coach Saunders says that everyone has great attitudes, and they are working hard on improving and learning more about basketball!
