In March, West Forest Elementary students had a guest author visit. The local author, Gina Burris, wrote Tallulah’s Diner. It is an adorable story about the river animals of the Allegheny. During her visit, Gina talked about the writing process with the students in grades 3-6. She shared some of her tips for being a great writer. After the visit, the students competed in a writing contest where they had to pretend to be a river animal that was going to Tallulah’s Diner to share a story about what makes them unique and special. All of the students’ stories were fun to read. They showed imagination and creativity, but nine students were chosen to receive prizes in the contest.
