Local Author Visits Forest Area School District

Gina Burris, author of Tallulah’s Diner visited West Forest Elementary School on Friday, March 29, 2019.  Students from East Forest joined the presentation via video conference.  Tallulah’s Diner is a story of a mother turtle, Tallulah, who runs an underwater diner with her family.  When Tallulah’s son makes fun of his sister, Tallulah intervenes and teaches her children the true meaning and importance of acceptance.  Ms. Burris read Tallulah’s Diner to the students and led a writer’s workshop. Students then created turtle crafts and enjoyed refreshments.  Grade 3-6 students will extend their learning with a writing competition.
